When a parent is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is affected. For children, the carefree joys and adventure of childhood are often replaced with new responsibilities, anger, guilt and the fear of losing (or loss of) a parent. We partner with local hospitals, cancer support groups and community organizations to ensure that campers have the chance to share their experiences, learn from peers, and have fun!

Camp Kesem Columbia was founded by students at Columbia and Barnard in the Fall of 2011.  The first Camp Kesem chapter in New York State, CKCU has grown quickly over the last two years, and plans to serve 70 campers in the summer of 2014.

We hope you'll join us in supporting the often-overlooked population of children who have been affected by a parent's cancer.

The healing that camp brings when a parent suffers from cancer means a lot to me. Thank you so much Sid for dedicating some time to this org
