I am a fundraiser for
Camp Kesem University of Georgia
There aren't enough words to describe what Camp Kesem means to me. But I'm certainly going to try.
It’s hard for me to believe that a little over two years ago I had no idea what Camp Kesem was. Two years later and it is everything to me.
It’s not because of my personal connection of having a parent with cancer. It’s not because sometimes Goose feels more like my real name than Jenna does. And it’s not even because I am my best self when I am working with Kesem.
Although all of these things are true, they are not that reason that I have dedicated myself to Camp Kesem UGA. The reason is because of the kids that I have met. The campers that I have had the joy of getting to know and hang out with every year. It is because the blood, sweat, and tears that we put into making this week of camp happen is nothing in comparison to what they have gone through. It’s because of the compassion and the strength I have learned from them.
It’s because they have made me a better person in every single way. That’s why we do what we do at Camp Kesem UGA- bringing a little bit of fun and joy into the lives that have changed ours is nothing.
Counselors and campers alike- these people are my very best friends.
Please consider donating to Camp Kesem UGA for our 2014 camp. Every single dollar we raise goes directly towards creating a life-changing week for 75 campers. Your donation is appreciated more than you know.
All my love,
THANK YOU to everyone who helped me raise my last $500 towards my overall goal! Within two days, I was able to send one camper to camp. In return, I chopped off 8 inches of my hair and donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, an organization that works with the American Cancer Society to provide free wigs to women battling cancer. I am so thankful for all of the support!
